Davido, Pogba, Lionel Messi & other superstars party in Dubai

Manchester United star Paul Pogba hanged out relaxed with Barcelona icon Lionel Messi and Nigerian Afro beats singer Davido.

The 25-year-old French international is currently injured and pulled out of Les Bleus team for the UEFA Nations League clash against the Netherlands.

Davido appears to be familiar with Pogba’s family as he had also in August jammed with Paul’s twin brother, Mathias at a party.

It was not clear what Paul Pogba and Davido discussed during their rendezvous. But Pogba, who is also a singer, did a small video with Davido, that has been trending.

Pogba suffered the injury during their 2-1 win away from home against Italian Serie A giants Juventus and subsequently missed the derby against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

He is now recovering from the injury in Dubai and could not help France as they lost 2-o to the Netherlands at the Stadion Feijenoord.

According to several photographs that have surfaced on social media, Pogba met with Davido who was in Dubai for a One Africa Music festival.

Pogba also ran into Barcelona superstar Messi who was with his wife at the Salt Bae’s Turkish steakhouse.

The French man spoke with Davido in English which he understands very well and spoke Spanish with Messi and his wife Antonella Rocuzzo.

Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer transfer window and beyond and his appearance with Messi has only heightened the conversation.

Senate Approves Science And Technology University For FCT

The Senate on Thursday approved the establishment of a Science and Technology University for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It equally stood down the consideration of the report of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the INEC Act 2010 (Amendment) Bill, 2018.

The Senate’s approval of the Science and Technology University for the FCT is coming 17 months after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had at one of its weekly meetings in May 2017 approved the establishment of the specialised university in Abaji.

Presenting the report of the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND at plenary for the establishment of the university , its Chairman, Senator Jibrin Barau (APC Kano North), urged the Senate to receive and consider the report of the committee for the establishment of FCT University of Science and Technology (Est, etc) Bill, 2018.

He urged his colleagues to approve the establishment of the university because the location is central and will generate employment opportunities for the residents of Abaji and its environ.

Senator Philip Aduda (PDP FCT), who sponsored the bill for the establishment of the university, told newsmen after plenary that all was set for the take-off of the university by next academic session.

He disclosed that collaborative efforts were being made to get similar passage in the House of Representatives for the required presidential assent.

According to him, 500 hectares of land had already been provided for the university in Abaji Area Council of the FCT aside blocks of classrooms and equipment also put in place by FCTA.

“As the senator representing FCT and the sponsor of this bill, I’m very elated with its passage today in the Senate and happy to inform you that required concurrence from the House of Representatives will be carried out soonest for the awaiting presidential assent being a project conceived and approved by the federal government in May last year.

“FCT needs a university of its own outside the University of Abuja established in 1988 to cater for more and more people seeking for university education within the territory and in Nigeria at large,” he said.

Also Thursday, the Senate stood down

the consideration of its Committee on INEC on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Act 2010 (Amendment) Bill, 2018.

The Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, said the Senate had to defer debate on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill to another day so as to give the committee headed by Senator Suleiman Nazif ( PDP Bauchi North) enough time to do a thorough legislative work on the Bill.

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, in agreeing with Lawan, then said the committee’s report will be stood down till next Tuesday.

Saraki said: “The Electoral Act Amendment Bill will now be presented at plenary by INEC committee on Tuesday.”

The Senate after a heated debate also Thursday confirmed the appointment of Dr. Abdulmalik Durnnguwa as the Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC).

Some senators had faulted the presentation of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Identity Card and National Population Commission, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi (PDP Kaduna North), about the credentials of Durnnguwa while presenting him for confirmation.

The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujinmi, wondered how the nominee can obtain his primary school leaving certificate at the age of 10.

The Senate President quickly interjected and said: “We have passed that stage, let’s do the needful as the committee has done its work.”

He thereafter put the nominee’s name into voice vote and the ‘ayes’ had it.

Earlier, the Senate had gone into a close-door session upon resumption of plenary immediately after Saraki said the opening prayer at 11.45 am.

At the end of the session that lasted for only 15 minutes, Saraki said the session discussed issues of national importance as it affects the National Assembly in general and Senate in particular

Cristiano Ronaldo has paid the Spanish tax man £12.1million and accepted a two-year suspended prison sentence. It appears the 33-year-old Juventus forward is wasting no time clearing debts and cutting all ties with Madrid and Spain following his transfer from Real to Juve. Spanish radio station Cadena Cope reported that Ronaldo has deposited the £12.1m and will also pay a further £4.7m in fines and costs. He will never have to serve the prison sentence because first offences for administrative crimes involving terms of two years or less are not custodial in Spain.

One of the primary reasons for leaving Spain has always been his anger at tax authorities for taking him to court for fiscal fraud and just one week after his departure to Italy he has wiped his debt with the treasury.

The player is also understood to have put his £4.8m Madrid mansion in the exclusive ‘La Finca’ neighbourhood on the market and is seriously contemplating closing all his business interests in the Spanish capital.

It is a dramatic cutting of ties that could include abandoning a hotel project in the city’s emblematic avenue ‘Gran Via’.

Ronaldo, in a joint venture with Portuguese company Pestana, had gained a building license earlier this year to convert one of Gran Via’s historic buildings into a 160-room luxury hotel with roof-top bar but Portuguese media now say that project could be shelved.

Ronaldo has always protested his innocence against claims he wilfully deceived the Spanish treasury by not declaring image-rights earnings between 2011 and 2014.

He was furious at being treated like a criminal despite the fact he voluntarily made attempts to put his tax affairs in order in 2014 by making an extra payment of £5m.

He felt the prosecution’s accusation was a result of a difference of interpretation of Spain’s complicated tax laws on image rights and should not have resulted in criminal proceedings.

He was determined to leave Spain last summer but ended up staying because Real Madrid refused to lower his €1bn (£890m) release clause.

According to a sources close to the couple, Daniel was playing with a couple of family friends who paid them a visit at their residence in Ikoyi Lagos on Sunday when the boy wandered away into the backyard where he fell into the pool.

His mother who left the boy with grown kids believing that they are capable of taking care of him later learnt that the boy body was found inside the pool. He was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state where he was certified dead.

As at the time of this report, his father is in far away Los Angeles California for the 2018 Black Star Entertainment Awards. The body of the late infant has been transferred to the mortuary.

A diehard Lionel Messi fan here has gone missing, leaving behind a suicide note saying he has nothing to look forward to now. A search operation is on.

A team of police divers and locals on Friday searched the Meenachil river that flows by Arumannoor near here.

Binu Alex, 30, who was last seen watching the FIFA World Cup match, according to his parents, has been missing from the house since 4am, a police officer, who did not want to be named, told IANS.

“A quick search revealed a suicide note in which he says he is leaving the world as he has nothing more to watch and see,” said the officer.

A close relative of Alex told IANS that he was a hardcore Messi fan and his mobile phone had a picture of Messi as the wallpaper.

“Yesterday, he purchased a T shirt like the one worn by Messi and sat down to watch the match. In the morning when his mother got up at 4am to prepare food for Alex, she saw that the back door of the kitchen was open and immediately called her husband.

“They then went to check on Alex and found that he was missing,” said the relative, adding that police was called then.

Police arrived with a sniffer dog who ran towards the river which is flowing in full spate on account of the rains in the past few days. Some divers searched in the water but failed to find the body.

Alex was unmarried and works as an accountant in a private company here.

Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, has played down Cristiano Ronaldo’s contribution at the 2018 World Cup and insists Argentina’s struggles are not all Lionel Messi’s fault.

Writing in a column for BBC Sport, Fabregas, who was left out of Spain’s squad for the tournament, said that Ronaldo’s four goals in two games, including a hat trick against La Roja, “have come from set-pieces, penalties or mistakes.”

Fabregas also praised former Barcelona teammate, Messi and bemoaned Argentina’s lack of quality, after their 1-1 draw with Iceland and 3-0 loss to Croatia.

“It was a similar story for Messi against Croatia, but it was not all his fault.

“As I said in my TV analysis after Argentina’s defeat, they look like a broken team.

“So it is has been really difficult for him. He does not have the quality in behind him, when he needs someone who can help him build up the play,” Fabregas said.

Fabregas, who played alongside Messi at Barcelona, also said Ronaldo does not have to work as hard for the Portugal team.

“These days, Cristiano Ronaldo has a very different role for Portugal – he mainly stays up front and you no longer see him running all over the pitch,” he added.

“He is one of the big names in Russia who has made a strong start to this World Cup, in terms of goals, with four so far.

“Yes, he is playing well, but if you really look at what he has done, he has scored one penalty, one free kick, one goal from a corner and one with a shot that David De Gea should have saved. You cannot say that he and Portugal have shown great combinations or tiki-taka football to score great goals.

“You have to give him credit, of course, but his goals have come from set-pieces, penalties or mistakes.”

Missing Woman Found Dead Inside Belly Of a 23 Foot Long Python

An Indonesia woman was found dead in the belly of an 7-metre-long python.

The body of 54-year-old Indonesian woman, Wa Tiba, was found on Friday when villagers cut open the giant snake.

She was previously reported missing.

She was recovered from the giant snake that was captured and killed near the place where she went missing.

NDTV and The Times of Israel reported that on Friday, the villagers killed the swollen snake and emptied its stomach on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi.

Muna Police chief Agung Ramos Paretongan Sinaga said the housewife disappeared on Thursday night after she went to inspect her plantation around 1km away from her house.

Wa Tiba's family became anxious as she did not return home even the next day.

Her sister went looking for her at the plantation, only to find her footprints, a torch, slippers and a machete on the ground.

Wa Tiba's family and villagers launched a search for her.

Another police official said that villagers found the giant serpent lying about 30 metres from Wa Tiba's sandals and machete, adding she was swallowed head first and her body was found intact.

When they cut open the snakes belly they found Tibas body still intact with all her clothes.

 She was swallowed first from her head.

According to Faris, the victims garden is located in a rocky area with caves and cliffs believed to contain many snakes.

Giant pythons are commonly found in Indonesia and the Philippines. Though they have been known to attack small animals, attempts to eat people are rare.

Reticulated pythons, which are widespread in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, grab onto their prey with dozens of sharp curved teeth and then squeeze it to death before swallowing it whole.

It was the second python attack on a human in Indonesia since March last year, when a 25-year-old man was swallowed whole by a python in West Sulawesi province.

In March 2017, another farmer was killed by a python in the village of Salubiro on Sulawesi island.

An Indonesian woman has been found in the belly of a giant python after the swollen snake was captured near where she vanished while tending her vegetable garden, police said Saturday.

“We Have Not Released Guidelines For 2019 Elections” – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that its guidelines for 2019 presidential primary election was not yet ready.

The party disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu, on Sunday in Abuja.

Mr Akobundu said that the clarification became necessary following a publication by a national daily titled “PDP list guidelines for presidential aspirants, demands N12m for forms.

“We wish to state categorically that the party is still in the process of drawing up the guidelines for its presidential primary election.

“It is therefore misleading to claim that the party has ‘listed its guidelines’ not to talk of the cost of nomination forms.

“At the appropriate time the proposals will be presented to NEC of the party which will approve as it deems fit.

“Only then can one say that it has the guidelines for the 2018 presidential primary election.”

Mr Akobundu said that the party’s National Working Committee under the leadership of Prince Uche Secondus, was committed to adhering strictly to the PDP constitution.'
He noted that the constitution in Chapter 8 (50) (1) grants NEC the power to formulate the guidelines for aspirants in any of its Party Primaries, the presidential primary inclusive.

Mr Akobundu appreciated the interest in the party’s electoral processes and said PDP was always ready to respond to any enquiries and to make all necessary information available.

The national organising secretary urged the general public, party members and they PDP presidential aspirants to disregard the said publication.

“Eagles Will Fly Again” – Mikel Obi Assures Nigerians

Nigeria can still progress to the World Cup knockout stage, despite their 2-0 defeat to Croatia on Saturday, according to John Obi Mikel.

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel insists Nigeria must ‘go back to the drawing board’ following their 2-0 World Cup defeat to Croatia, but still harbours hopes the Super Eagles can progress from Group D.

An own-goal from Oghenekaro Etebo and a penalty from Luka Modric secured the points for Croatia from a turgid contest in Kaliningrad on Saturday, without Nigeria ever looking likely of mounting a comeback.

And former Chelsea midfielder Mikel, who captains Gernot Rohr’s side, acknowledged Nigeria must improve ahead of their clash with Iceland on Friday.

“We have to play better. I think we can play better, we can do better,” Mikel told reporters.

“It’s difficult to say I think. We have to go back to the drawing board and see what we can do better, together as a team.

“It’s not easy playing against these fantastic players, European players; they can hurt you in any given time. We know that, but we have to do better.”

However, despite Nigeria’s inefficiencies, Mikel is confident that progression from Group D is still possible; citing that Argentina’s unexpected draw with Iceland has provided the Super Eagles with a lifeline.

“Why not? We believe. That’s why we’re here,” the skipper added.

Reports in France suggest that Chelsea have rejected a £17.6m bid from their London neighbors Arsenal for defender David Luiz.

According to French outlet Le10Sport, as quoted by Metro, the gunners had a bid for the 31-year-old Brazilian defender turned down by Chelsea FC in recent days.

Declaring his intention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ikechukwu disclosed that his mission was to rescue the nation from ‘economic doldrums.”

Ikechukwu, a Pastor at Rivers state Province 10 of the RCCG, declared for the 2019 Presidency under former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s inspired African Democratic Congress, ADC.

He said:-

“When this (Buhari’s) government came up with this anti corruption corruption issue and made it a focal point, it scared a lot of investors away.
You don’t scare people away. You try to see how you can tackle the economy.
“Though corruption needs to be taken care of, you cannot eradicate it from any human environment. What you need to do is to focus on basic challenges that intensify corruption.
If you fix the economy, insecurity, corruption would be taken care of.
“We need to tackle unemployment and insecurity. And the assured way to achieve that is to create industries through conscious technological advancement” improving the economy is not rocket science.
“What a government needs to do is effective partnership with the private sector to develop education, infrastructures,
build industries to create jobs, reduce employment, and partner financial institutions to support sustenance of small and medium scale enterprises for the masses through cooperatives financing.
“At 40 and given my background and experience, I have all it takes to steer the ship of the nation from prolong economic doldrums. People say it is easier said than done, that when you get there, a lot of things will overwhelm you.
“I say to them nothing can overwhelm me. It is not rocket science. To fix the economy and create jobs is not something we will get from outer space.
The opportunities, human or natural resources, are around us, all a genuine change agent needs is the will and I have it.”
